Invictus [Purple Crew]

On February 11th, 1990 Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years for the crime of fighting to free his people from the brutal Apartheid system created by the Dutch.  During Mandela’s 27-year imprisonment he endured physical and mental torture every day in hopes that he would betray his comrades. After being freed, Mandela was asked how he was able to endure everything he went through. One of the things he mentioned was the poem Invictus, by William Ernest Henley. Mandela said that whenever he felt like giving up on life, he recited this poem and it would help him persevere.
