RESIST: Poor People’s Campaign GR

$35.00

The Resist Collection is a call to action for us to remember what we fought for in the past. It’s a call for us to realize that we still have much fighting to do. And it’s a call to examine our successes and failures so that we can continue to move forward the way our ancestors intended us to.

In this piece we recognize The Poor People’s Campaign, initiated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in late 1967 in an effort to end economic injustices that weren’t addressed in the Civil Rights act. Dr. King was assassinated months later after supporting striking sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee where he delivered his final speech “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop.”
